Our Mission - A safe, inclusive provision where children develop regulation and readiness to learn.
Treetops Specialist Provision, exists to create a safe, inclusive and aspirational environment where children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs can develop the regulation, resilience and self‑belief required to succeed in education and in life.
We believe that children learn best when they feel secure, understood and valued. Our provision is grounded in research relating to attachment and trauma‑responsive practice, enabling us to support children to strengthen self‑regulation, broaden their window of tolerance and become increasingly ready to engage in learning.
Treetops is intentionally designed to support children who have experienced adversity, disruption or trauma to:
- feel emotionally and physically safe
- develop trusting relationships over time
- regulate their emotions and behaviour with increasing independence
- re‑engage with learning at their own pace
- access ambitious academic opportunities when they are ready
Core Principles Guiding Practice
1. Connection Before Correction
Relationships are prioritised above compliance. Behaviour is understood as communication, and responses aim to restore safety and connection.
2. Regulation Enables Learning
Children are supported to regulate emotionally before academic demands are placed upon them. Co‑regulation, sensory strategies and movement are embedded throughout the day.
3. Trauma‑Responsive and Restorative Practice
Staff understand the impact of trauma on development and learning. When difficulties arise, the focus is on repair, reflection and restoration, not punishment.
4. Strength‑Based and Solution‑Focused
Progress is built upon strengths. Small steps are recognised and celebrated, building self‑belief, motivation and resilience.
5. Preparation for Life Beyond Treetops
Alongside meeting immediate needs, we equip children with the emotional, social and regulatory skills required for future learning, transition and adulthood.
